diablo 4 player count

Diablo 4 had a very successful launch back in the midpoint of 2023. Because of this, you may wonder how many people are actively playing the game, or how many copies of the Diablo game have been sold. The success of Diablo iii and Diablo Immortal meant that the game has a lot to live up to, so let's take a look at how many people are already playing Diablo 4.

How many people are playing Diablo 4?

Month-to-month audience insights & statistics

  • April 16th, 2023- 3,099,690 players

  • May 14th, 2023- 3.146,655 players

  • June 11th, 2023(around the games launch)- 2.722,455 players

  • July 9th, 2023,- 2,881.530 players

As one can see, the player count grew from April to May, but not by much, only about 45 thousand players (give or take). Then flattened out just below 3 million players. And the highest since the stats have been on record seems to be on May 14th, and this can be due to people still actively trying to the many betas Blizzard has released for Diablo 4. The lowest seems to be on June 11th, with 2.7 million players. Now let's look at other stats.

Total Number of hours players put into the game

As of June 27th, 2023, people have put in about 93 million hours. Of course, by now that number could be much higher, likely over 100 million hours, maybe even 150 million hours.

Total Number of times people died in Diablo 4

As of June 27th, 2023, people have died about 47 billion times in Diablo 4. This number may be higher by now, probably being well over 50 billion total deaths in Diablo 4, possibly even closer to the 100 billion point.

Total number of copies sold in Japan by console

  • PS5 sold 24,375 copies of Diablo 4

  • PS4 sold 8,940 copies of Diablo 4

  • Xbox Series X sold 8,524 copies of Diablo 4.

This shows that games on the Xbox might not sell as well in Japan, too, considering Playstation is made by a Japanese company, Sony, which makes it clear that PlayStation has the Asian market, especially Japan.

Number of Monsters killed by players so far

As of June 27th, 2023, people have slain a total of almost 30 billion monsters in Diablo 4. With more deaths than total monsters slain, it goes to show that Diablo 4 might be a more difficult game with a steeper learning curve. Of course, this number could be higher by now, too, probably almost at 50 billion.

Most players haven't even beaten Diablo 4's campaign yet

As of June 17th, 2023, it was reported by Blizzard (the studio behind Diablo 4) that the majority of players haven't beaten the main campaign yet for Diablo 4. This can also be a big reason why the player count has dropped significantly, yet, either. And this was two months after the player count first started being recorded. The reason for this is pretty clear: there is so much content in the game, especially side content, that players are opting to do those instead of the main campaign. This makes sense, people want the full experience of Diablo 4. On top of that, the game is considered to be difficult and has a steeper learning curve.

What platforms is Diablo 4 available on?

  • Xbox One

  • Xbox Series X / Series X

  • Playstation 5

  • PlayStation 4

  • Microsoft Windows
